the AM > ER Jam > AM was not uncommon during that run of shows (Jan-Mar '80), i think played around half-a-dozen times in the 2nd set, and then dropped from the JGB setlists, unfortunately, as i agree, it is definitely one of those combos that worked really well, a high point in JGB jams for sure

i was at the Caldwell show too, were you the guy who knocked over the drum set, freaking out the band and cutting the show short by perhaps a song?

Vividly remember the crowd still cheering as the bands bus floored it out of town right outside the stage left fence. They cut the showshort and bolted out of there after that guy almost knocked down the drum set.

I liked that show but when I went back to listen to it a year or so ago, I was saddenned that Jerry's chops didn't hold up to my memory of the show. I guess I should have expected that for 84

Actually, the playing during those run of shows (Aug 10-16) is really very good, although the Caldwell show may be the weakest of the bunch. And then there are the shows from the second half of August through the rest of the year which may be Jerry's lowest point ever (JGB that is).

As for the After Midnight jam I've always liked 3-8-80 the best.

Like that 3-8 one also.

The 2-28-80 "After Midnight" release is very sweet. So nice to have such a clean recording out there. Love that show and listened to it on a crappy recording for years.

As we have all said so many times. Early 80 JGB is awesome - every show just seems great

could be more than one song, but i'm thinking definitely not more than two; the 8/11 show runs around 1'34, and the 8/12 show runs around 1'45, so only 11 minutes difference; the 8/13 show though runs around 2 hours; either way, it was an unfortunate incident, but oddly enough i didn't even know it at the time of the show; i remember that it was a pretty wild crowd, but i went to the show by myself and just kept to myself, i can't even remember if i chatted with anyone i met there, i don't think so

No not me.I really liked the setting there and was always in the crowd. This was not true at the Bobby ane The Midnights show at Rutgers where I came very early and I guess they thought I belonged and asked what my security assignment for the show was and confidently told them stage ramp left and was given a t-shirt,pass and all access to the stage area. I do believe in days past if you looked like you belonged you got certain oppertunities that I took full advantage of. I do have a history of making it on stage quite a few times for I had a connection w/ Dee Anthony the tour manager for The Nice, Ten Years After,Joe Cocker and then Peter Framton.I did get perks oplenty and was a great time for a 18-20 y/o guy.
